Karina Barquet

Karina Barquet serves as the Team Lead for Water Coasts & Ocean at the Stockholm Environment Institute since August 2015, overseeing projects related to coastal infrastructures, blue economy, and circular water. Barquet has previously held roles such as Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow at SEI, focusing on integrated research that bridges policy, academia, and societal needs. Prior to SEI, Barquet worked as a Project Manager for a non-profit organization in Latin America, planning and networking for various projects. Educational background includes a PhD in Geography from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, alongside master's and bachelor's degrees from Lund University and Malmö University, respectively. Karina Barquet's early career includes teaching, research assistantships, and event rapporteur roles, reflecting a diverse expertise in geography and development studies.
