Preston Shell has a wealth of experience in software engineering and systems integration. Preston is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Strategic Business Systems, starting in March 2021. Prior to that, Preston worked at Volt as a Senior Software Engineer from November 2019 to September 2021.
Before their time at Volt, Preston spent several years at Cray Inc. as a Software Engineer specializing in HPC Clusters. During their tenure from June 2014 to November 2019, they provided configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and on-site deployment support for the Cray Cluster Solutions product line, with a focus on various technologies such as Cray Advanced Cluster Engine, Ethernet and InfiniBand networks, and HPC file systems.
Earlier in their career, Preston worked at Raytheon, where they held multiple roles. Preston was a Senior System Engineer from May 2011 to June 2014, specializing in LDAP architecture and implementations, including automating provisioning of Red Hat Directory Server authentication service and migrating legacy NIS services to LDAP. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Systems Integration Technologist II from August 2009 to May 2011, supporting various systems integration projects with technologies like Infiniband storage, IPoIB, VMware, and openldap. Preston also held the position of a Senior Systems Engineer from November 2007 to August 2009, where they were a prime member of an architecture and deployment team for a multi-site project and designed system deployment and configuration management tools. Lastly, they worked as a Senior System Engineer from December 2003 to November 2007 at Raytheon, where they were responsible for the build, test, integration, and delivery of high-performance computing systems, serving as an integration troubleshooter and performance tuner.
Preston Shell earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology from American Technological University in Killeen, Texas, where they studied Computer Software Engineering. This educational achievement took place between 1976 and 1979. Later, Preston pursued a Master of Arts in Computer Data Management from Webster University in the year 1984-1985. Preston'sfocus during this time was on Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management.
