Patricia Rojas-Ungar leverages nearly 20 years of lobbying and government experience to assist SMI clients develop and execute winning advocacy strategies. Over the last decade, Patricia has used her homeland security, appropriations, transportation and trade expertise to deliver key policy and federal funding wins for corporate interests while serving as head of government affairs for two national industry trade associations. Her efforts have earned her recognition as a top lobbyist in Washington from The Hill Newspaper, Washingtonian Magazine, CEO Update and Association Trends.
Prior to her private sector work, Patricia served as a professional staff member on the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, where she honed her expertise in border and transportation security, passenger security screening, immigration and disaster recovery and mitigation. She also served as the Committee’s SME for the homeland security budget and appropriations. Before the U.S. Senate, Patricia served as legislative assistant to Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), the current Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security. Her responsibilities included managing funding requests for the homeland security, commerce, justice, science and foreign operations appropriations subcommittees. Patricia also served as liaison to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) for Rep. Roybal-Allard who is a former Chair of the CHC.
Patricia earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. She is fluent in Spanish and is a member of the Hispanic Lobbyist Association. Patricia lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two children.
