Eric Meltzer has extensive experience in the field of clinical development and medicine. Eric currently holds the role of Vice President of Clinical Development, Cardiopulmonary at Structure Therapeutics. Prior to this, they founded and served as the Principal Consultant at Medicines Development Consulting Company, LLC. Eric also held the position of Vice President Clinical Development, Respiratory at both Pieris Pharmaceuticals and Translate Bio, A Sanofi Company. In addition, they worked at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) as a Medical Director and Associate Medical Director in the area of early phase clinical development for respiratory diseases. Before their industry career, they worked at Duke University in various roles including Adjunct Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor of Medicine, and Instructor of Medicine, where they co-founded the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Specialty Clinic and served as the Conference Director for the Multidisciplinary ILD Conference.
Eric Meltzer has a strong educational background in medicine. Eric began their education at The Johns Hopkins University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology between 1987 and 1991. Following their undergraduate studies, Eric pursued post-baccalaureate pre-med studies at Columbia University from 1993 to 1994.
In 1996, Eric enrolled at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn and completed their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 2000. Eric then went on to complete an Internship/Residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 2000 to 2003.
Building upon their expertise in Internal Medicine, Eric pursued further specialization in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine. Eric attended Yale University School of Medicine from 2003 to 2006, where they completed a Clinical & Research Fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine. Subsequently, they continued their training at Duke University School of Medicine in 2006 and 2007, undertaking a Research Fellowship specifically in Pulmonary/Critical Care.
In addition to their extensive education, Eric Meltzer has obtained several certifications to augment their medical knowledge and skills. Eric is certified in Medical Affairs in Medicines Development by IFAPP - International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians & Pharm. Medicine, which they obtained in February 2022. Eric also holds certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
