Jens van den Berg

Jens van den Berg has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies.

Jens started their career at Laser Quest Eindhoven BV as a bartender while also taking on website development projects for startups and smaller companies.

In 2012, Jens joined Vict Informatici as a Mobile Developer, where they were responsible for Android and iPhone app development, including creating and maintaining various apps using Java, Objective-C, and NodeJS.

In 2014, they started their own company, Jens van den Berg Web/App Design, alongside their steady job. Within their company, they focus on creating custom websites from scratch and developing custom Android apps.

In 2014, Jens also joined Studyportals as a Software Engineer, gradually transitioning into roles such as Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead - Back-end Community Lead, Senior Software Engineer - Back-end Community Lead, and currently, as the Software Engineering Team Lead.

Throughout their tenure at Studyportals, Jens has been involved in architecture/design, development, and testing of internal and client systems. Their responsibilities have ranged from managing scrum teams to focusing on the technical aspects of their role.

Jens van den Berg completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Software Engineering from Fontys University of Applied Sciences, from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they studied Software Engineering in Computer Software Engineering at Summa College from 2007 to 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Jens also obtained several certifications. In January 2021, they completed the following AWS Fundamentals courses: "Addressing Security Risk," "Building Serverless Applications," and "Migrating to the Cloud." In December 2020, they finished the "AWS Fundamentals: Going Cloud-Native" course.

Furthermore, Jens obtained a certification in Software Architecture from the University of Alberta in March 2020. Jens has also completed various online courses, including "RPG Core Combat Creator: Learn Intermediate Unity C# Coding" in October 2019, "Ethereum and Solidity: The complete Developer's Guide" in September 2019, "Master Ethereum & Solidity Programming: Build Real-World Apps" in August 2019, and "Complete C# Unity Developer 3D: Learn to Code Making Games" in March 2019.

Jens obtained course certificates in "Design Patterns" and "Object-Oriented Design" from the University of Alberta in February 2019 and January 2019, respectively. Jens also completed courses like "Six Tools To Improve Your Tech Leadership & Communication," "Vue JS 2: From Beginner to Professional (includes Vuex)," "Boost Your C# With Behavioural Design Patterns," "How To Become An Outstanding Solution Architect," "Boost your C# With Structural And Creational Design Patterns," "Hands-On Web Development with Vue.js," and "UML Fundamentals" in 2018. Lastly, Jens earned the "Unity Certified Associate: Programmer" certification from Unity Technologies in November 2020.
