Mikko Voutilainen

Mikko Voutilainen is a Senior Inspector at STUK - Säteilyturvakeskus since June 2019, with extensive experience in applied physics and research related to radionuclide diffusion and nuclear safety. Prior to this role, Mikko served as a University Researcher and Post-doc researcher at the University of Helsinki from January 2013 to June 2019, focusing on pore structure of bedrock in the context of spent nuclear fuel repository safety in Olkiluoto, Finland. Mikko's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science (MS) in Applied Physics from the University of Jyväskylä, where research included the study of porous materials using X-ray computed tomography, along with practical measurement and analysis related to porosity and permeability in various projects.
