Teresa (Terry) O’Halloran is the Executive Director of Risk Management/Safety/Human Resources at Suffolk Transportation Services, Inc., where she is responsible for state and federal compliances, asset management, claims management, and acts as a liaison between the company and various constituencies.
Prior to joining Suffolk Transportation, Terry held similar positions at MKTG, Inc., Pasqua Coffee Bar, and Nutri System. She is a member of SHRM; Society of Human Resource Management, East Islip/Dowling School Business Partnership, and High School Workforce Ready Program. In addition, Terry sits on the Board of Directors of United Way of Long Island and Suffolk County Workforce Development Board. Terry was a Town of Islip Small Business Award Winner and a member of the Workforce Builder Honor Roll of the Long Island Works Coalition.
Terry’s many contributions to Suffolk Transportation speak to her superior leadership skills, hard work and commitment to excellence. She was responsible for the implementation of the web-based employee portal, My Parking Space, which enables employees to register for training classes, review compliance due dates, report safety concerns, and more. In addition, Terry introduced the innovative “Suffolk Six” checklist, which identifies six essential training and safety procedures that the company now follows. Terry also publishes the company’s weekly newsletter, “The Bus Stops Here,” which provides updates on company activities and general safety information.
Terry has based her career on successfully balancing company efficiency with employee satisfaction. She believes that you cannot have one without the other, and she points to this fundamental principle as the key ingredient in making Suffolk Transportation a leader in the school bus industry. A testament to this is that the company was voted by its employees as one of the best companies to work for in NYS, and ranked # 3 as a Newsday Top Workplace on Long Island. On a national level the Company was named the Contractor of the Year by School Bus Fleet magazine.
Terry holds an Associate Degree in business from Nassau Community College and she has received professional certificates from the Human Resources Certificate Institute (HRCI) and the Society for Human Resource Management.
