John Keisler

John Keisler currently serves as the CEO and Managing Partner of Sunstone Management Inc., a venture capital firm in Southern California focused on investing in transformative early-stage technologies across various sectors. Before joining Sunstone, John had an extensive career with the City of Long Beach, holding multiple leadership roles including Economic Development Director, where responsibilities included creating economic opportunities, and Innovation Team Director, overseeing a research and development unit aimed at stimulating growth. Additional roles included Chief Financial Officer, managing a significant annual operating budget, and Director of Animal Care Services, ensuring public safety and humane treatment of animals. John also led the Municipal Management Association of Southern California as President and supported local government staff as a Policy Assistant for the League of California Cities. John obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religion from St. Olaf College.
