Steve Sanderson has extensive work experience in the water industry, primarily in project management and engineering roles. Steve started their career at Warren Associates as a Planning Engineer from July 1998 to July 1999. Steve then joined RPS Water Services as an Operations Engineer, where they were responsible for delivering the Scottish Per Capita Consumption study and facilitating meetings between consultants, contractors, and clients. From July 1999 to July 2001, they worked on the East of Scotland Water integrated network management system (INMS) project.
Steve Sanderson then joined Scottish Water as a Network Analyst in the Lothian Division, where they implemented the Integrated Network Management Strategies (INMS) project. Their responsibilities included WSZ/DMA design, leak detection, pressure management, project management, and software development. Steve worked at Scottish Water from July 2001 to October 2002.
Next, Steve Sanderson worked at Ewan Group PLC as a Project Manager from January 2004 to January 2005. Their role involved desk and site investigations, hydraulic modeling, and planning and implementing field tests for District Metered Areas (DMA). Steve contributed to the delivery of over 125 DMAs and significant leakage savings.
In June 2005, Steve Sanderson rejoined Ewan Group PLC as a Senior Project Engineer, where they coordinated the implementation of a Trunk Mains Management program for Scottish Water Solutions. Steve developed network schematics, coordinated site investigations, and worked on the development of real-time online analysis software.
Steve Sanderson then joined AECOM in June 2006 as a Senior Engineer, initially assisting with the LinkWater Toowoomba Pipeline Alliance. Steve later became a Principal Engineer, where they acted as a site-based design representative and handled tight deadlines, negotiation between design and construction teams, and problem-solving design/construction issues. Steve was also seconded to the Brisbane Water pressure and leakage management program, where they played a vital role in DMA implementation, subsidy funding applications, and program management for Water Supply Zones.
In May 2010, Steve Sanderson moved to Seqwater, initially as a Senior Project Manager Specialist for the Dams Portfolio. Their responsibilities included the delivery of the Sideling Creek Dam Upgrade and the Somerset Hydro Refurbishment business case. Steve also negotiated a $3 million construction project and managed various stakeholders and consultants. Steve remained at Seqwater until August 2020.
Most recently, Steve Sanderson joined Sunwater in August 2020 as a Project Manager.
Steve Sanderson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University between 1991 and 1994. Later, from 1997 to 1998, they pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Aided Engineering with Management at the same institution. In 2011, Steve attended the Australian Institute of Management for a Diploma in Project Management.
