Francisco Sansana Silva

Francisco Sansana Silva is a seasoned professional in wave modeling and forecasting, currently serving as Senior Manager of Wave Modelling at Surfline\Wavetrak, Inc. since October 2017, where responsibilities include leading the development of the Wave Forecasting System, LOTUS, and spearheading R&D for new surf zone products. Prior to this role, Francisco held the position of Principal Wave Model Engineer at both Surfline and Magicseaweed, and at Magicseaweed from February 2013 to October 2021, driving the same initiatives. Francisco began a career at Instituto Hidrográfico - Marinha Portuguesa as a Graduate Research Fellow from September 2007 to February 2013, focusing on wave forecasting systems and contributing to met-ocean information for military operations. Francisco holds a Master’s degree in Oceanography from Universidade do Algarve, obtained between 2000 and 2006.
