Kumar Shourav

Kumar Shourav is a seasoned fintech professional serving as Co-Founder and CEO of Surge Africa, a cross-border payments app for entrepreneurs within Africa since July 2023. Previously, Kumar held the position of Managing Director at Onafriq, focusing on the International Money Transfer Business Unit, and served as AVP of Partnerships at Yabx, where responsibilities included establishing partnerships across Africa's financial landscape. Kumar's consultancy work centered on mobile money, payments, and digital product strategies for startup fintech companies. Before these roles, Kumar contributed to the growth of TerraPay as a founding team member and Regional Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, successfully launching operations in multiple countries. Educational credentials include a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management Indore and specialized courses in FinTech from Copenhagen Business School and Customer Analytics from The Wharton School.
