Dr. David Stoops has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Dr. David currently serves as a Senior Software Lead at SustainIQ since April 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Belfast Telegraph as a Technical Project Manager from July 2019 to February 2021. From October 2016 to July 2019, they worked at Pareto Digital as a Lead Software Developer.

Dr. Stoops has also held positions at Simply Zesty, where they served as a Project Lead Developer from June 2014 to September 2016 and as a PHP Developer from August 2013 to June 2014. Dr. David contributed to various projects at Gravity as a Software Engineer from March 2013 to May 2013.

Dr. Stoops began their career at the University of Ulster, where they served as a Student Demonstrator/Marker from October 2007 to May 2010, providing teaching support and marking assistance. Dr. David also worked as a Learning Support Assistant from August 2003 to June 2004, providing support to lecturing staff and students, including the development of teaching materials and online solutions.

Before their academic career, Dr. Stoops worked at Consarc Design Group as a CAD Technician/3D Visual Technician from June 1999 to September 2001, primarily involved in developing computer-based drawings and 3D images.

Dr. David Stoops has a diverse educational background. Dr. David began their education in 1995 at the South Eastern Regional College, where they earned a National Diploma in Construction. Following this, they pursued a Higher National Diploma in Built Environment with IT at the same college, which they completed in 1999.

In 2001, Dr. Stoops enrolled at Ulster University and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Interactive Multimedia Design in 2005. Dr. David continued their studies at Ulster University and obtained a Master's degree in Web Information Technology in 2007.

Dr. Stoops then embarked on a doctoral program, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Ulster University in 2011. Dr. David'sPhD thesis focused on the field of Behavioural Rule Discovery from Swarm Systems.

Additionally, throughout their education, Dr. Stoops also participated in various training courses and qualifications at the SERC / UUJ between 1994 and 2010, enhancing their skills and knowledge in different areas.
