Tamara Gonzalez

Member Board Of Directors at Suzuki Association of the Americas

Tamara Gonzalez is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in teaching and performing. Currently serving as the Concertino East Conductor for GTCYS since June 2020, Tamara also holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Suzuki Association of the Americas since August 2021. At the MacPhail Center for Music, Tamara teaches Suzuki violin and viola, conducts the middle school Camerata Orchestra, and instructs school partnerships. Previous roles include sub-violinist for Chicago Sinfonietta and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and violinist with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra. Tamara has significant experience in educational leadership, having been the Sherwood Suzuki Department Head at Columbia College Chicago, where responsibilities included program oversight, curriculum development, and faculty management. Education credentials include a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree with honors in Violin Performance from DePaul University.
