Christie Ma has a comprehensive work experience in the legal field, primarily in venture capital and corporate law. Christie currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at SVB Capital. Prior to this, they held roles at SVB Capital/Silicon Valley Bank as an Associate General Counsel, where they managed legal and regulatory aspects of venture capital funds, fund formation, limited partner relations, and corporate governance. Christie also worked as a Senior Counsel at SVB Capital, focusing on venture capital fund structuring and formation, investment negotiations, and limited partner and portfolio company relations. Christie gained over seven years of corporate legal experience at DLA Piper, advising venture capitalists, handling corporate governance and SEC disclosure matters, and working on IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions. Christie also worked as an Associate at Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP. Christie started their legal career as a Summer Associate at Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP and William Peter Kosmas. Before entering the legal profession, Christie worked as an Admissions Counselor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, evaluating student applications and representing the university at college fairs.

Christie Ma obtained a JD degree in Law from Santa Clara University School of Law. Prior to that, they completed a BA degree with a double major in Sociology and Communication from UC Santa Barbara. Christie is also a member of the California State Bar.
