Benjamin Holmes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Benjamin began their career as a Research Assistant at Yellow Springs Instruments, where they focused on testing and improving a microfluidic device for detecting E. coli in water samples. Benjamin then worked as a Researcher at IDCAST, troubleshooting errors in a blood sugar monitoring process and developing strategies for fixing and preventing similar errors in the future.
Afterwards, Benjamin worked at Wheaton College as an Undergraduate Researcher in microbiology and later as a Senior Call Center Tech Support Technician, providing computer and network support to students and faculty. Benjamin also gained experience in teaching as a Lab Instructor, teaching nursing students various assays and providing exam preparation sessions.
Benjamin then joined Wright State University as a Clinical Lab Graduate Teaching Assistant and handled inventory management for classes. Benjamin also worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist, conducting research on gut microbial communities and developing a user-friendly interface for data queries.
In their role as a Contractor - Programmer/Data Scientist at Wright Patterson Air Force, Benjamin fostered connections between the Air Force Base and George Mason University's lab. Benjamin worked on an important database project related to the neurons in the rat hippocampus.
Moving on, Benjamin worked as a Research and Development Software Engineer at Tenable Network Security, where they were involved in software development in the field of network security. Benjamin then joined NICE Actimize as a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer, focusing on data analysis and machine learning.
In their most recent role at Syapse, Benjamin held multiple positions. Benjamin started as a Biomedical Informaticist and later became a Senior Clinical Data Analyst. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Clinical Data Scientist II.
Benjamin Holmes pursued their education in a progressive manner, starting with a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology/Computer Science from Wheaton College from 2004 to 2009. Benjamin then moved on to complete a Master's Degree in Microbiology at Wright State University from 2009 to 2012. Recently, they have been engaged at Wright State University again, where they are presently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, a program that commenced in 2017 and is expected to conclude in 2024.
