Harshil Patel

Harshil Patel has had a diverse range of work experiences in various roles and companies. Starting in 2013, they worked as a Project Engineer at Biodiesel Manufacturing for three months. In 2014, they completed a Summer Internship at Sujana Metal Products Pvt. Ltd. and also served as the Lead Designer for SAE BAJA @BITS Pilani, Dubai from 2014 to 2016. Later in 2016, they worked as a Workshop Instructor at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus and conducted workshops.

In 2017, Harshil joined Sea Machines Robotics as a Robotics Engineer Intern, where they researched and developed state-of-the-art perception algorithms and contributed to the development of a geolocation system. Harshil then became a Robotics Software Engineer, responsible for developing key components of the AI-Ris software stack, collaborating with the hardware team on data collection systems, and improving the software stack's code quality and productivity. In January 2022, they were promoted to Senior Software Engineer and took on additional responsibilities such as managing AI-Ris deployments on various vessels and collaborating with customers for feedback and improvements.

Harshil Patel pursued their Master of Science (M.S.) in Robotics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, completing it from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute Of Technology and Science, Pilani Dubai, graduating in 2016. Additionally, Harshil earned several certifications in various aspects of machine learning and deep learning from Coursera in March 2018.
