Rick Runkel

Rick Runkel is a seasoned legal executive with extensive experience in the technology and healthcare sectors. Currently serving as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Synopsys since May 2014, Rick oversees legal matters for a leader in electronic design automation and semiconductor intellectual property. Prior to this role, Rick held senior legal positions at Affymetrix as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Intuitive Surgical as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and VISX, Incorporated as Senior Vice President, Business Development and General Counsel. Rick began career as a Partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, specializing in complex commercial litigation. Rick earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from UCLA School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government from UCLA.
