Senior Research Associate at Synthetic Genomics

Lindsay Sager has a diverse work experience. Lindsay started working as a Research Associate at Viridos in May 2017 and held this position until April 2019. In this role, they were involved in various tasks such as strain isolation, strain characterization, microscopy, flow cytometry, cell culturing, and DOE. Lindsay also gained experience in NGS workflow, molecular biology, and development of PCR and qPCR methods.

After that, Lindsay served as a Research Associate II at Viridos from April 2019 to January 2021. In this role, they primarily focused on NGS - Amplicon sequencing on the MiSeq platform and had exposure to environmental sample collection, library prep, and MiSeq loading/maintenance.

Lindsay's most recent position at Viridos was as a Senior Research Associate, which they started in January 2021. In this role, they worked on the development of a dual indexed amplicon sequencing method to differentiate algal strains by unique SNVs. Lindsay also designed and validated an internal standards method for calculating rRNA copies/mL from both prokaryotes and eukaryotes in a single sample.

Before joining Viridos, Lindsay worked as a Tour Guide at La Jolla Kayak from May 2013 to May 2017. In this role, they presented marine and biological sciences to clients in a creative and engaging manner. Lindsay was responsible for ensuring the health and safety of clients in open water conditions and was CPR and First-Aid certified.

Lindsay also had a position as an Undergraduate Assistant at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, which they held from October 2016 to April 2017. However, no specific details about their responsibilities in this role are provided.

Lindsay Sager completed their education at various institutions. Lindsay began their academic journey in 2012 at the University of the Pacific, where they studied Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. Lindsay then transferred to the University of California, San Diego in 2014 and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, General, which they completed in 2017. Seeking further specialization, Lindsay enrolled at UC San Diego in 2022 and is currently working towards a Master of Science degree in Data Science, expected to be completed in 2024.
