Robert Ioanna is the New York office site leader, responsible for all engineering/consulting services, business development and operations. Rob, who joined Syska Hennessy Group as an HVAC engineer in 2000, became the New York leader in 2012 and has supervised the office’s expansion since.
Rob’s mantra is “work smarter,” and he promotes collaboration, accountability and technical quality. He is a hands-on leader and continues to oversee key client relationships and projects. Rob leads Syska’s work in MEP systems design for some of the most prestigious buildings in the world. His team’s upgrade of a legacy data center system in a live environment for AIG received the prestigious Uptime Institute Brill Award.
Rob, who is also Syska’s Eastern Regional practice area leader for the critical facilities sector, is a member of the local 7×24 Exchange Metro New York Chapter. He is a 14-year member of the Long Island chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), a member of Building Design + Construction’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2016 and a recipient of ENR New York’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2014. He has authored numerous technical articles and presented at industry conferences across the U.S., including 7×24 Exchange International’s national conference.
Rob is committed to giving back to improve communities and people’s lives, and actively supports fundraising and awareness for stomach cancer and autism. He was part of various events for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Rob is a member the network Rewired Committee Board, raising funds for the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America (NSASA), and he’s a fundraiser for Autism Speaks, a charity that raises funds for autism research.
Rob spends his spare time golfing, coaching basketball and fishing, where he recently made the local news by spotting and filming a humpback whale in the Long Island Sound.
