Juan Hernando Bolivar Gonzalez has a diverse work experience in the field of biotech and research. Juan Hernando started their career at the University of Oxford in 2012 as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where they worked on addressing pressing research questions in collaboration with Prof. Zitzmann. After completing their postdoctorate, they rejoined the University in 2019 as a Research Associate and was involved in protein production in mammalian cells for collaborative projects in drug discovery. Juan Hernando utilized high-throughput screening techniques such as FRET and structural-based techniques like NMR and X-ray crystallography. In the same year, they also joined Orbit Discovery, a biotech startup originating from the University of Oxford, as a Tech Development Scientist. Here, they contributed to the development of a novel technology using microscopic beads for drug discovery. In 2020, Juan joined T-Cypher Bio, where they initially worked as a Scientist in the Platform Research team and later progressed to the role of Senior Scientist.
Juan Hernando Bolivar Gonzalez obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 1999 to 2005. Juan Hernando then pursued a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the same institution from 2005 to 2006. In 2006, Juan began their doctoral studies at the University of Southampton, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology in 2011. In 2009, they also had the opportunity to be a visiting doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany, focusing on the field of Biophysics.
