Pikyee Ma has a diverse range of experience in scientific research and project management. They began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at ITQB-UNL, where they contributed to the structural elucidation of an integral membrane enzyme and successfully wrote a grant proposal for a bacterial drug development project. They then moved on to Trinity College Dublin, where they coordinated a collaborative effort to study the structure and function of the human CFTR protein. Following this, Pikyee Ma joined Paul Scherrer Institut PSI as a Project Scientist, focusing on structural and functional studies of GPCRs using X-ray and cryoEM techniques. They specialized in Lipidic Cubic Phase crystallization of membrane proteins and also managed projects. Afterward, Pikyee Ma joined Virometix AG as a Senior Scientist before their most recent position at T-Therapeutics Ltd as a Senior Scientist, starting in 2023.
Pikyee Ma obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Pharmacology from the University of Leeds in 2004. Pikyee then pursued a Master of Research in Bioscience at the same institution from 2004 to 2005. Following their Master's degree, they continued their education at the University of Leeds and completed a PhD in Biochemistry from 2005 to 2010.
