Serena Cates has a diverse work experience. Serena started their career as a babysitter in 2007 and continued in that role until 2016. In 2012, they interned at The Brookeside Group, where they gained valuable skills. From 2016 to 2020, Serena worked at Advances Learning Center as a Behavior Technician and Safety Care Trainer. Serena also served as a Training Coordinator during that time. In 2017, they briefly worked as a Costume Coordinator at The Performing Arts Connection and as a Literary Representative at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Serena joined New Repertory Theatre in 2016 as an Artistic Intern, and later became a Box Office Associate and House Manager. In 2019, they worked as a Costume Coordinator at The Performing Arts Connection. In 2023, they briefly served as a Choreographer at the same company. Serena then joined TACT, LLC in 2020 and has held various roles, including Junior Practitioner, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Senior Behavior Analyst, Assistant Clinical Director, and currently Clinical Director. Serena's work experience showcases their versatility and expertise in the fields of child care, theater, and behavior analysis.
Serena Cates earned a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, Schools, Education, & Society, and Dance from Wake Forest University in the years 2013-2016. Serena then pursued a Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at Bay Path University from 2017 to 2020. In 2023, Serena began their studies for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at Simmons University. Alongside their educational achievements, Serena obtained additional certifications including being a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) in 2020 and a SafetyCare Specialist from QBS in 2016.
