Benjamin Smith

Benjamin Smith is an experienced analyst in baseball research and development, currently contributing to the Tampa Bay Rays since October 2019. In this role, Benjamin is part of the Pitching Research & Development group, focusing on building statistical models and generating reports to analyze on-field player and team performance. Prior experience includes positions as a Junior Analyst and Junior Data Technician at Wareham Gatemen Baseball Inc., where Benjamin utilized Python and Excel for player evaluations and league data manipulation. Benjamin also served as a Facility Supervisor at Santa Clara University and as a Student Manager in Data Analytics for the Santa Clara University Men's Baseball team, where responsibilities included organizing player data and developing a team website. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Santa Clara University.
