Charlie Vazquez has a diverse and extensive work experience. Charlie began their career in 1985 in the United States Army, serving for 8 years and receiving an Honorable Discharge. During their military service, they had various roles, including being a Sergeant E-5 and serving in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
After leaving the military, Vazquez joined the Houston Police Department in 1993 as a Senior Police Tele-Communicator. Charlie then advanced through the ranks, working as a Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and eventually becoming a Captain of Police in the HPD's Property Division.
In 2011, Vazquez took on the role of Assistant Chief of Police, Organizational Development Command at the Houston Police Department. In this position, they oversaw several divisions, including the Recruiting Division, Training Academy, and Psychological Services Division. Charlie also held various additional assignments, such as being a liaison to the Houston Police Foundation and chairing the Training Committee.
Vazquez continued their career at the Tampa International Airport (TPA) in 2017, assuming the role of Chief of Police. As the Chief of Police, they were responsible for the safety and security of the airport and led both the Airport's Police Department and Traffic Department.
Throughout their work experience, Vazquez demonstrated leadership, budget management, and organizational development skills, along with a commitment to public safety.
Charlie Vazquez has a diverse education history. Charlie obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Texas Woman's University in 2007-2008. Before that, they completed General Studies at Lone Star College from 2005 to 2007. Charlie also pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership at Mountain State University from 2005 to 2007. In their earlier years, they engaged in General Studies at Austin Peay State University from 1990 to 1993. Additionally, they studied Business/Commerce, General at Central Texas College from 1988 to 1989.
