Gene Erbacher, CISSP, has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Gene has held various roles in both the private and public sectors, focusing primarily on information and cybersecurity.
Gene's most recent position was at Tangram Flex, where they served as the Information Systems Security Manager. In this role, they were responsible for managing the Information Technology Department and implementing controls for enterprise information security.
Prior to their time at Tangram Flex, Gene worked as a Principal Cyber Security Engineer at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI), where they maintained computer and information security incident programs and designed controls for enterprise information security.
Gene's experience also includes serving as a Cybersecurity/ISSM at the Wright State Research Institute, where they were responsible for the development and presentation of the security education program and security policy and procedures. Gene also served as an Information Technology Specialist at the Defense Security Service, providing oversight and certification for the National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM).
Before transitioning to the private sector, Gene served in the US Navy as a Cryptologic Technician Operator. Gene has also held positions such as Information Assurance Officer, Information Systems Security Officer, Help Desk Support, Network Administrator, and Senior Desktop Engineer throughout their career.
Throughout their various roles, Gene has utilized frameworks and guidance such as the RMF, NIST, JAFAN, and NISPOM to implement controls and policies for information security.
Gene Erbacher, CISSP has a diverse education history. Gene obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wright State University from 1987 to 1990. Following this, they pursued Network Engineering at Miami Jacobs Technical College, earning a diploma from 1998 to 1999. In their earlier years, Gene attended RETS Technical College and studied Electronics Engineering, receiving an Associate of Applied Science degree between 1995 and 1997. Prior to their college education, they completed their General High School Curriculum at Carroll High School, where they obtained their diploma from 1982 to 1986.
In addition to their academic achievements, Gene Erbacher has also acquired several certifications. Notably, in 2008, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)². Gene has also acquired various other certifications, such as "AWS Security Hub First Look," "Cybersecurity for Small and Medium Businesses: Essential Training," "IT Security: Key Policies and Resources," and "Kali Linux on Windows 10 First Look," all obtained from LinkedIn between 2019 and 2020.
