Alex S.

Alex S. has a strong background in data science and product management. Alex is currently working as the Head of Data at Tarabut Gateway, starting in November 2021. Previously, they worked at TrueLayer for three years, starting in October 2018. During their time at TrueLayer, Alex held various roles, including Lead Data Scientist, Product Manager, and Data Science Engineer. Alex was responsible for building banking data-enabled API products, such as transaction categorization and income/rent/affordability estimation. Alex also co-founded the Insights team and served as its first Product Manager, helping to grow the team and ship the company's first value-add products. Additionally, Alex served as the Data Platform Product Manager, looking after TrueLayer's core product, the Data API. Before TrueLayer, Alex worked at Black Swan Data as a Senior Data Scientist, where they were the technical lead for the core Data Science team. Prior to that, they worked at IBM as a Data Scientist, developing predictive modeling components for industry solutions. Alex started their career at PGS, where they worked as a Geophysicist, completing multiple projects in subsurface imaging for major oil and gas companies. Alex also had a summer internship at PGS as a Junior Researcher, where they worked on introducing Machine Learning techniques for improving quality control processes. Before that, Alex worked as a Biostatistician at the Alfa Institute of Biomedical Sciences, providing statistical analysis support for biomedical research projects.

Alex S. began their education journey at Erasmeios Greek-German School from 1991 to 1996. The field of study and degree obtained during this time are unknown. They then pursued a Diploma in Applied Mathematical & Physical Sciences from 2002 to 2007 at the National Technical University of Athens. Alex S. later attended the University of Leeds from 2011 to 2012, where they obtained an MSc in Statistics. In 2015 to 2016, Alex S. completed a Data Analyst Nanodegree from Udacity. Additionally, they obtained several certifications, including becoming a Chartered Statistician from the Royal Statistical Society in April 2020, earning the Data Science Foundations certification from IBM in March 2016, achieving the AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in February 2021, and obtaining the Advanced Data Science Professional certification from the Alliance for Data Science Professionals in February 2023.
