Evonne Bankston M.Ed has extensive experience in education and social justice, currently serving as a consultant and collaborator on the ISBE Social Studies Curriculum Task Force with the Illinois State Board of Education since April 2024. Bankston also holds advisory roles at Equality Illinois and participates in the Leadership & Learning Development Team with Teach For America, both initiated in early 2023 and late 2021, respectively. As a Graduate Research Fellow with Vocal Justice and SEL Chair at KIPP Chicago since October 2018, Bankston focuses on fostering healthy school cultures and supporting students' social-emotional learning. Previous experience includes roles as a Social Studies Teacher and Mentor at 21ST CENTURY CHARTER SCHOOL AT GARY INC, along with managerial positions at Wireless Advocates and RadioShack. Bankston holds a Master of Arts in Inner City Studies Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts and Science in History and Social Sciences, alongside ongoing education at Dominican University.
