DC Area Educators For Social Justice - People's History Working Group at Teaching for Change

Ariel Simone Alford is an experienced educator with a focus on history and social justice, currently serving as a secondary history teacher and curriculum writer at Fairfax County Public Schools since August 2020. In addition, Ariel is involved with Teaching for Change as a member of the DC Area Educators for Social Justice - People's History Working Group and contributes as a content developer for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture's Digital Learning Initiative. Previous roles include curriculum writing for the National Women's History Museum, teaching at Kansas City Public Schools, and serving as a judge for National History Day. Ariel holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Africana Studies from Howard University.
