Shannon Smith is an experienced educator currently serving as an Assistant Principal and previously as a Reading 3-5 Instructional Coach and a teacher at the Dallas Independent School District since August 2014. In these roles, Shannon has focused on data-driven decision-making to enhance student growth and has led professional development initiatives to support teacher development. Additionally, Shannon is a member of Cohort 7 in the Teaching Trust Aspiring Leaders Program, aimed at preparing for leadership positions in urban education. Previously, Shannon served as a Teach For America Corps Member, focusing on elementary reading and writing, and held various internships in nonprofit organizations. Educational credentials include a Master in Urban Leadership Development and a Master of Education in Reading Teacher Education, both from Southern Methodist University, as well as a Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University.
