Justin J. Carlson

Justin J. Carlson is a seasoned technical artist specializing in Houdini, currently serving as a Senior Environment Technical Artist at Tencent since September 2021, where responsibilities include building world-building tools and solving creative challenges for games. Prior to this role, Justin operated as a freelance Technical Artist and FX TD from January 2020, supporting various studios and indie projects in 3D, CGI, and VFX. Justin previously contributed as a Houdini Environment Artist at Team Kaiju for two years, creating procedural world tools and effects for an unannounced title. With experience at Moving Picture Company and Technicolor as FX Artist, Justin has developed photo-real effects and simulations for film projects, including Dumbo (2019). Justin's foundation in technical support for the VFX industry began at Image Engine Design Inc. and SpeedLine Solutions Inc. Education includes an FX TD Diploma in Houdini from Lost Boys School of Visual Effects.
