Markus Deutsch

Markus Deutsch is an accomplished professional in the field of exercise physiology and sports technology, serving as the President of Smartabase at Teamworks since December 2022. Previously, Markus co-founded Fusion Sport in 2003 and held the position of CEO at Smartabase until January 2023, where innovative solutions were developed to help sports teams manage data effectively. With significant experience as a lecturer at both Cardiff Metropolitan University and the University of Otago, Markus has contributed to the education of future professionals in exercise physiology and strength conditioning. Markus's early career included a role as a Sport Science Consultant with New Zealand Rugby, where impactful fitness testing protocols were established. Markus earned a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Otago, following a dual Bachelor of Applied Science from The University of Queensland.
