Machiel van der Harst has a diverse work experience in the field of biometric identity management solutions. Machiel is the CEO and Co-Founder of Tech5.ai, a Swiss technology company specializing in identity management solutions. Previously, they were the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of BioID Technologies SA, where they transformed the company into a turnkey solutions provider for biometric registration projects. Machiel also worked as a Senior Business Development Consultant and later as the Vice President Sales and Business Development EMEA at Credence ID, a company focused on mobile biometric identity management systems. Additionally, Machiel served as the Vice President International Sales at L-1 Identity Solutions, Biometrics Division, and as the Vice President Sales and Sales Support EMEA at Iridian Technologies SA. Earlier in their career, they held the position of Sales Director EMEA at Sensar Inc, Sales Director New Media at Redgate Olivetti Communications, and Marketing Manager at Olsy Solutions.

Machiel van der Harst completed their Bachelor of Economics at Erasmus School of Economics from 1980 to 1984. Machiel then pursued a Doctorate in Business Administration and Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, from 1984 to 1987.
