Alex Merchant has a diverse range of work experience. Alex started their career as a Sophomore Advisor at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where they provided guidance and support to freshmen residents. Alex then worked as an Engineering Intern at Airlanco, designing air filtration systems and managing client communication.
Alex later interned at Wilde Tool Co., Inc., where they designed a new product line of hand tools and improved manufacturing processes. Alex then returned to Rose-Hulman as a Resident Assistant, continuing to support freshmen residents in their personal and academic development.
After completing their undergraduate studies, Alex joined Rose-Hulman as a Graduate Assistant, supervising the Night Host program and serving as an advisor for the International Student Association.
Alex'smost recent position is with Technifab Products, where they have taken on increasingly higher roles. As a CNC Programmer, they programmed machinery for efficient manufacturing processes. Alex then worked as a Cryogenic Engineer, designing complex products and improving existing product lines. In their most recent role as Engineering Manager, Alex mentored a team of engineers and technicians, managed the design of custom cryogenic equipment, and supervised internal engineering projects. Alex is currently the Vice President of Engineering.
Alex Merchant attended the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following this, they continued their education at the same institution and pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Engineering Management. As for additional certifications, in June 2020, Alex obtained the ASME Section VIII, Division 1 UM Certified Individual certification from The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
