Katherine (Beauvais) Hills has a range of work experience in the technology and research fields. Katherine began their career as a Research Foundation fundraiser at San Diego State University from January 2008 to June 2010. Katherine then served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant from June 2010 to September 2011, where they created lesson plans, conducted classes, and provided individual and group tutoring in algebra and geometry.
From August 2010 to November 2013, Katherine worked as a Research Assistant for the Nonlinear Dynamics research group at San Diego State University. In this role, they utilized computational simulations to maximize power output of a microwave signal by programming simulations to simulate electron spin and find synchronization of the oscillator(s) through the use of a Fast Fourier Transform and an ODE Solver in Matlab. Katherine also assisted their advisor in writing and editing papers for publication in the Journal of Applied Physics based on the research findings.
In September 2013, Katherine joined Technology Unlimited Group as a System Engineer. During their tenure, they overhauled documents for the Common Data Link System and advised on the development and design of a communications system. Katherine also created and presented briefings on key aspects of the system.
In March 2014, they transitioned to the role of System Test Engineer at Technology Unlimited Group. In this position, they directed a testing team, composed automated test procedures, and conducted Acceptance Testing for a NATO communication program. Katherine also played a role in refining requirements and documenting defect progress reports.
In January 2018, Katherine was promoted to Deputy Program Manager at Technology Unlimited Group. Katherine coordinated work on open interfaces, spearheaded a Sub-Working Group for the Common Data Link Program, and oversaw the development and evaluation of software prototypes.
Overall, Katherine (Beauvais) Hills has a diverse background encompassing research, teaching, and engineering roles, with a focus on technology and communications systems.
Katherine (Beauvais) Hills completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from San Diego State University in May 2011. Katherine then pursued further education and obtained a Masters of Science degree in Computational Science from the same university, starting in 2011 and concluding in 2013.
