Matt Mason

Matt Mason has extensive work experience in software engineering and management. Matt currently holds the position of Director of Corporate IT Software at Tecolote Research, starting in 2023. Previously, they served as the Software Engineering Manager and Product Owner at Owl biomedical, Inc. from 2020 to 2022, where they grew the team and transformed their development efforts into an Agile Scrum team.

Before that, they were the Director of Software Engineering at True Digital Surgery from 2019 to 2020, where they grew the team and migrated them to Scrum Agile methodology. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineering Manager at Arthrex in 2018, where they hired and managed a software engineering team and directed the development of enterprise commercial products.

From 2013 to 2017, Matt worked as a Software Engineering Manager at New Directions Technologies Inc., where they managed a team of software engineers and implemented code reviews to improve quality. Matt also performed software security and cybersecurity measures, resulting in positive audits and secure platforms.

Before that, they held the role of Senior Software Engineer at Gospel Light from 2011 to 2015, where they migrated products and customers to modern platforms and integrated payment processing systems. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Agilysys from 2008 to 2011, where they delivered new tools and architectural strategies, designed and delivered device drivers, and implemented projects for various services.

Matt Mason attended UC San Diego from 1989 to 1993 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In addition to their degree, they have also obtained certifications as a Scrum Master from the Agile Scrum Alliance™ in June 2016, and as CompTIA Security+ ce from CompTIA in May 2015.
