David Shawky has worked in various roles in the field of engineering since 2018. David started their career as a Junior Teaching Assistant in The German University in Cairo before becoming a Research Assistant in Control and Dynamical Systems lab, where they designed a flapping wing mechanism. David worked as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Technische Universität Dresden, where they implemented an optimal control algorithm for an Over-actuated Multirotor using C++ and verified the control design in ROS and Gazebo using a Hexarotor model with advanced aerodynamic features. Later, they became a Senior Hardware Developer at IEEE and developed Raspberry-Pi based projects for controls and computer vision, and also instructed and supervised technical workshops for RC Car design using Arduino. During their tenure as a freelance engineer at Upwork, they worked on 6 DOF Equations of Motion for an aircraft system. Recently, they worked as a Flight Control law Engineer at Tehiru, where they designed flight control laws. Presently, they work as a Flight Control Engineer at Volocopter GmbH.
David Shawky received their high school diploma from Salam Language School. David then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering at The German University in Cairo, graduating in 2021. During their studies, in 2020, they completed their bachelors thesis in Control Theory at Technische Universität Dresden. In 2021, they enrolled at the Technical University of Munich to pursue a Master of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering, which they are expected to complete in 2024. In addition, they have earned certifications in Aerial Robotics from the University of Pennsylvania and in Matlab Programming and Simulink from Udemy.
