Hannah Northover is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in human rights, legal advocacy, and policy reform. Currently serving as Chief Legal Advisor at Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission since April 2018, Hannah has held multiple managerial titles, successfully leading teams to enhance frontline services for those facing discrimination and human rights issues. Previous roles include Senior Policy and Projects Officer at Victoria Legal Aid, where advocacy focused on family violence and child protection, and Project Worker at the Refugee Council, supporting Syrian resettlement efforts in the UK. Hannah’s career also includes significant legal practice, including positions as Head of Legal at Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley and Solicitor at Chapman Tripp. Hannah holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) and BA in Politics from Victoria University of Wellington, along with Japanese language proficiency.
