José Luis Núñez Díaz has extensive work experience in the technology industry. José Luis started their career at Telefónica in 1994, where they held various roles such as Strategic Business Analyst, Head of Social Communications Unit, and Head of Mobile Messaging Unit. During their time at Telefónica, they were involved in deploying innovative premium value-added services and analyzing new models for service composition using emerging technologies.
In 2011, José became the Global Head of Scouting and Selection of Start-ups at Wayra, where they focused on identifying and nurturing talented entrepreneurs and innovative ideas. José Luis also co-founded and served as the CTO of Navandú, a technology startup.
José joined Telefónica again in 2014 and took on roles such as Global Head for Blockchain and Innovation Operations. José Luis played a crucial role in building the Internet of Trust by making blockchain technologies accessible to companies of all sizes. José Luis also contributed to the Open Future Platform, which supported technological entrepreneurs and innovative initiatives.
José has continued to make significant contributions to the technology industry. José Luis became a council member at 101 Blockchains in 2022 and a member of the Board of Directors at Alastria Blockchain Ecosystem in 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Global Head for Blockchain and Web3 at Telefónica Tech.
Furthermore, José has been involved in academia and teaching. José Luis is a Professor of Information Technologies for Business in the MBA program at IME Business School. Additionally, they will be a lecturer and coordinator of the Web3 topic in the "Web3, AI and Quantum (WAIQ)" summer course at Harvard Law School starting in 2023.
José Luis Núñez Díaz has a diverse education history. José Luis obtained an Executive certificate in Innovation and Strategy from MIT Sloan School of Management in 2017. Later, they pursued further education at Harvard Business School Online, where they earned a Certificate of Specialization in Strategy in 2022. Prior to these certifications, José completed an MSc in Telecommunications and Computer Science from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid between 1990 and 1996. Additionally, they hold a Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia.
