Steve Burion has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Steve began their career at EPFL, where they worked as a Research Engineer on medical applications and autonomous vehicles. Steve then joined Stanford University as a Research Engineer, focusing on 3D deformable object simulation and characterization.
After that, Burion worked at Litrex Corp. as a Software Engineer, specializing in the development of industrial ink-jet printers. Steve then moved on to Triple Ring Technologies, where they held the position of Senior Engineer and Staff Software Engineer. At Triple Ring Technologies, Burion worked on embedded software development for satellite cameras and digital X-ray imaging systems.
Burion joined Auris Health, Inc. in 2012 and held various roles during their tenure. Steve started as a Senior Software Engineer, where they designed and implemented a C++ software framework for robotic arms. Steve then became the Manager of Software Engineering, overseeing a team of 12 engineers and leading the development of the company's first robotic platform. Burion later became a Sr Manager Software Engineering, responsible for the entire software development lifecycle of a robotic platform used for bronchoscopy procedures. Finally, they were promoted to Director Of Software Engineering, where they led a group of over 50 engineers and supported multiple development projects in parallel.
Most recently, Burion worked at Kitty Hawk as the Director Of Software Engineering, before joining Telos Health as the Sr Director System, Software, and Data.
Steve Burion completed their Master's Degree in Micro-engineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 1999 to 2004. In 2004, they also undertook a Master Thesis in Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University. Additionally, they hold several certifications, including a Data Engineering Nanodegree from Udacity, obtained in January 2022. In December 2020, they completed the DO-178C RTCA Training Course on Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification from RTCA, Inc. Furthermore, they obtained the Scrum Product Owner Certified (SPOC) certification from Cprime, Inc. in September 2015 and the Scrum Master Certified (SMC) certification from the same institution in March 2015.
