David Michael began their career in 2015 as a Professor of Practice at UC San Diego. David then became a Board Director at NUBURU Inc., a company that focuses on the development of next-generation industrial lasers. In the same year, they also became Managing Partner at Anzu Partners, a venture capital firm focused on "the enabling technologies of tomorrow's industries." David then became a Board Director at Niron Magnetics, Inc., Pivotal Systems, Terapore Technologies, Inc., BioSkryb Genomics, ImmunoScape, and InterVenn Biosciences. In 2022, they took on the role of Board Director at e-Zinc, a zinc-air battery company. Throughout their career, David has focused on breakthrough technologies in life sciences, and related advances in high technology.
David Michael attended Stanford University from 1990 to 1992, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus on leadership, technology, and entrepreneurship. David was also the recipient of the Arbuckle Award. Prior to that, they attended Harvard University from 1983 to 1987, where they earned a BA in Economics. David also spent 1989 to 1990 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as a Rotary Scholar, studying Chinese Studies.
