Ling Shao

President of Terminus International at Terminus Technologies

Ling Shao has held a variety of positions in the field of artificial intelligence. From 2005 to 2021, they have worked for Philips Research as a Senior Scientist, Queen's University Belfast as a Senior Research Engineer, The University of Sheffield as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor), Northumbria University as a Chair Professor, and University of East Anglia as a Chair Professor and Director of the Artificial Intelligence Lab. In 2018, they became the Founding CEO and Chief Scientist of the Inception Institute of Artificial Intelligence, where they led a team of over 100 AI scientists and engineers. Ling was also the Initiator of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, where they designed the vision, structure and programs of the University. In 2021, they joined the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) as the CTO and Chief Scientist. In 2022, they were appointed President of Terminus International and Chief Scientist of the Terminus Group.

Ling Shao received a B.Eng. in Electronic and Information Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China between 1996 and 2001. Ling then went on to the University of Oxford where they completed an MSc (by research) in Medical Image Analysis in 2002. In 2005, they completed a Ph.D. (D.Phil.) in Computer Vision from the University of Oxford.
