Shukui Guan has had extensive experience in the field of scientific research and development. They have held various roles at different companies, including Tessera Therapeutics, Korro Bio, Inc., Moderna Therapeutics, Ensemble Therapeutics Corporation, Massachusetts General Hospital (an affiliate of Harvard Medical School), Laboratory Services University of Guelph, and the Department of Microbiology at the University of Guelph.
At Tessera Therapeutics, Shukui currently holds the position of Senior Principal Scientist, which they started in 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Principal Scientist at Korro Bio, Inc. from 2020 to 2022.
Their experience at Moderna Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist from 2016 to 2020 involved establishing and operating an oligonucleotide synthesis/RNA modification unit. They were responsible for synthesizing, processing, purifying, and characterizing RNA oligonucleotides using various equipment. They also contributed their expertise in oligonucleotide design, chemical modification, and sourcing.
At Ensemble Therapeutics Corporation, Shukui worked as a Senior Scientist from 2009 to 2016. They operated DNA synthesizers and performed analysis, purification, and quantification of complex oligonucleotides. They also developed a procedure to handle CPG split and mix, saving the company time and effort. Prior to this, they held the role of Scientist at the same company from 2005 to 2009.
Before joining Ensemble Therapeutics Corporation, Shukui worked as a Research Team Leader at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2002 to 2005. They contributed to a collaborative program funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, involving multiple research centers. Their responsibilities included producing and ensuring the quality control of long oligonucleotides for microarray printing and short primers for a murine whole genome RT-PCR project.
They also worked as a Scientist at Laboratory Services University of Guelph from 2000 to 2002 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Microbiology at the University of Guelph from 1998 to 2000.
Shukui Guan has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Australian National University. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Virology from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan, P. R. China.
