April Norris

Chief & Rmo, Information Governance Division at Texas Attorney General

April Norris has over 10 years of work experience in the information governance and records management field. April began their career as a Government Information Analyst at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in 2007. In 2008, they transitioned to become a Records Management Officer at The University of Texas System before joining The University of Texas at Austin in 2009. At UT Austin, they served as an IMLS Preservation Doctoral Fellow and later as an Assistant Instructor in the School of Information. In 2012, they joined the Texas Attorney General's office as a Sr. Records Analyst in the Records Management Division, and then progressed to become a Deputy Chief in both the Records Management Division and the Information Governance & Logistical Operations Division. In their most recent role as Chief & RMO of the Information Governance Division, they led the management and operation of the division, developing and guiding the enterprise records management program and ensuring compliance with regulations.

April Norris has a diverse education background. April holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from The University of Texas at Austin, which they obtained in 2001. In 2006, they completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Studies from the same university. Later, they pursued their IMLS Preservation Doctoral Fellowship in Information Governance, completing it from 2009 to 2012 at The University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, April Norris has obtained certifications in Essentials of Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles from ARMA International and in Management & Leadership Skills from Rockhurst University in 2014.
