Volunteer Advocate at Texas CASA

Ashley Laura Wheeler, M.Ed, is an experienced educational leader currently serving as an Executive Board Member for the Austin Area Branch of the International Dyslexia Association since January 2023. With a tenure at IDEA Public Schools beginning in August 2015, Ashley has held various roles, including Regional Vice President of Special Programs, Regional Managing Director, and Founding Launching Director of the THRIVE Transition Program. Ashley’s responsibilities have included leading and developing personnel, overseeing Special Education compliance, and mentoring teachers to close achievement gaps. Additionally, Ashley has contributed as a Volunteer Advocate for Texas CASA since May 2015, providing support to children in the foster care system. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, a Principal Certification from Lamar University, and a Master's degree in Special Education from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, among others.
