Steven Tamayo has a diverse work experience in the field of community health, HIV prevention, and early childhood education. Steven started their career as an Administrative Assistant, Classroom Assistant, and Spanish Teacher at University United Methodist Church Early Childhood Center from January 2011 to August 2014. Steven then became a Lead Teacher at the same organization from August 2014 to July 2015. In 2015, they joined AIDS Services of Austin as a Prevention Program Specialist, specializing in Mpowerment Outreach. From November 2016 to September 2018, they continued their work at AIDS Services of Austin as an Mpowerment Outreach Specialist. In 2018, they joined Texas Health Action as a Laboratory Services Assistant, and eventually became the Outreach and Testing Manager in May 2019. Steven held this position until February 2022. In 2019, they also served as an NMAC Fellow at NMAC, where they received training in Biomedical HIV Prevention and became an advocate for their community.
Steven Tamayo attended Crockett High School from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained their diploma. Following high school, they enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin from 2010 to 2014 to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
