Jackie Velez

Jackie Velez has a diverse background in journalism and communication, currently serving as a News Desk Assistant at Texas Public Radio since April 2021. Prior experience includes an internship at La Prensa Texas, where Jackie engaged in writing, filming, and interviewing, and a role as a Writing Tutor at San Antonio College. Additional positions include a Marketing Intern at 71 Publications and a Work Study Student at the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership. Jackie held the role of Features Editor for the University of the Incarnate Word's student-run newspaper and worked as a News Anchor at UIWtv. With a Bachelor's degree in English and a Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts with a concentration in journalism from the University of the Incarnate Word, along with an Associate of Arts in Radio and Television Broadcasting from San Antonio College, Jackie Velez is well-equipped for a career in media.
