Andrew Rechnitz

Director, Systems & Technology Strategies at Texas State University

Andrew Rechnitz has extensive work experience in the field of education and technology. Andrew began their career at The University of Texas at Austin, where they held the position of Writing Program Coordinator and later Assistant Director. In 2014, they joined Southwestern University as a Mellon Fellow in Digital Scholarship and also worked as a CLIR Fellow. Andrew then moved on to Texas State University, where they served as Assistant Director of the Learning Commons before being promoted to Director of the Technology Engagement Division in December 2018.

Andrew Rechnitz obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in English: Rhetoric; Digital Literacies from The University of Texas at Austin from 2009 to 2014. Prior to that, they received a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in English: Rhetoric and Composition from Colorado State University between 2005 and 2007. In 2004, they completed a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults from the University of Cambridge, specializing in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instructor. Andrew Rechnitz holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English and Philosophy from Boston College, which they earned from 1999 to 2003. Additionally, they have a diploma from Choate Rosemary Hall, obtained from 1995 to 1999. Andrew Rechnitz also possesses certifications including ITIL 4 ® Foundation from AXELOS Global Best Practice, and Executive Leaders Academy from EDUCAUSE, both of which were obtained in 2023.
