Zachary Israel

Zachary Israel currently serves as a Community Advisory Committee Member for the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board, appointed by DC At-Large Councilmember Christina Henderson in January 2024. This role involves promoting public involvement and equitable representation in regional transportation planning. Zachary has extensive experience in legislative affairs, having held various positions at The Ferguson Group since May 2015, progressing from Associate to Principal and Manager of Legislative Affairs. Zachary was also elected as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for Single Member District 4D04 from January 2021 to January 2023, representing nearly 2,000 residents. Previous roles include Government Affairs Assistant at the North American Securities Administrators Association and Debate Trainer at the International Debate Education Association. Zachary earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from Bard College and pursued a study abroad program in Political Science and Government at Central European University.
