Sumet Ongkittikul has a diverse work experience in the field of transportation and logistics policy. Sumet began their career at TNO Mobility & Logistics in 2002 as a trainee, where they gained foundational knowledge in the industry. In 2006, they joined the Thailand Development Research Institute as a Research Fellow, and eventually worked their way up to Senior Research Fellow in 2013. Sumet currently holds the position of Research Director for Transportation and Logistics Policy, which they assumed in June 2014. Overall, Sumet Ongkittikul has a strong background in research and policy development in the transportation and logistics sector.
Sumet Ongkittikul began their education by earning a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Civil Engineering from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Sumet then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Transportation Engineering from the same university, from 1998 to 2000. Subsequently, Sumet enrolled at the University of Leeds, where they completed a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Transport Economics from 2000 to 2001. Finally, they attended Erasmus University Rotterdam from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a PhD in Social Science.
