Richard Billyeald

Richard Billyeald has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fields of automotive engineering and aviation. Richard currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Euro NCAP, an organization dedicated to improving car safety. Prior to this, they were the Director of Gamston Aviation Ltd. Their previous roles also include Chief Technical Officer at Thatcham Research, where they were responsible for all engineering functions and played a crucial role in setting global standards in vehicle security. Richard has also worked at Veroplane Ltd as a Special Advisor, Williams Advanced Engineering as the Head of Mechanical Engineering, and Project VT as the Technical Director. Richard began their career at Xtrac Ltd, where they started as a Trainee Design Engineer and progressed to Principal Engineer, working on high-performance transmission technology. Additionally, Richard has experience in the motorsport industry as a Senior Transmission Design Engineer at Renault F1 Team. Overall, they have a proven track record of leadership, innovation, and technical expertise across various sectors.

Richard Billyeald attended Loughborough University from 1995 to 1999, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Automotive Engineering. In February 2021, they obtained the certification of Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry (FIMI) with Advanced Automotive Engineering (AAE) from The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
